Jesus waits for us in this Sacrament of Love…
“In the sacred Host, He is present, the true treasure, always waiting for us. Only by adoring this presence do we learn how to receive Him properly – we learn the reality of communion, we learn the Eucharistic celebration from the inside”1.
On 28 November 2015, the community of St. Liduina of Schiedam in The Hague inaugurated a new beginning. Since 1 October of this year, the community has been located in the center of The Hague preparing for the new task of opening an Adoration chapel and center of hospitality. Part of the diocese of Rotterdam’s “Body of Christ” model, the new chapel will serve as a place of worship of the Real Presence of the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament and service to His Body in the people who come in contact with the center.
The Mass of inauguration was held on Saturday 28 November and presided by the Most Reverend Johannes van den Hende, bishop of Rotterdam. Ten priests concelebrated and more than 200 people participated in the festive Mass of inauguration. After the Mass there was a small reception to allow people to share in the joy of the new mission. People were also welcomed to partake in the Eucharistic Adoration which has already begun on Wednesdays from 9 until 17.
“The Lord is present in the tabernacle in His divinity and His humanity. He is not there for Himself, but for us: for it is His joy to be with us. He knows that we, being as we are, need to have Him personally near. As a result, anyone with normal thoughts and feelings will naturally be drawn to spend time with Him, whenever possible and as much as possible” (from a letter from St. Edith Stein, co-patroness of Europe). We pray for the fruits of this new mission and ask for the grace that many souls may come to know the joy of spending time with the Lord.
